So far from WitcherCon this past week, CD Projekt Red has established some exciting additions for its video game series. For one thing, the Netflix series starring Henry Cavill is told to be seeping into the video game. Unique to the ‘Complete Edition’ coming to Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5, DLC inspired by the show is told to arrive to the game later this year.

As for the Netflix series itself, fans are to expect season 2 to arrive later this December. But for fans impatient to wait this holiday, there is a new addition coming to Netflix in August. In that, Netflix unveiled a trailer for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an anime film that follows the tale of Vesemir who’s story takes place before Geralt of Rivia.

In a separate announcement during the livestream presentation, CD Projekt Red told that it will be launching a Kickstarter campaign for The Witcher: Ronin, a new manga series that follows the tale for Geralt of Rivia while spinning the inspiration from Japanese folk lore. However, the context of the story will not be connected to the main universe. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:

The new project was created by CD Projekt Red Comic Book Editor Rafał Jaki, responsible for the upcoming Netflix anime, Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners. Jaki when speaking to IGN told the inspiration of the new story strands from Batman Ninja and Superman Red Son. “I personally love the new monsters and folk tales we can experiment with. Both Europe and Japan have a unique tradition in this area, and bringing iconic Japanese stories and monsters and fitting them in a Witcher Context was the most exciting thing for me.

“We took cues from other Elseworld comics where, for example in Superman Red Son even though Superman lands in the CCCP instead of Kansas, [in the] U.S. he is still called Superman — it’s an artistic license that allows people to have fun with the concept and understand it easily.” Neko no Matasaburou and Mangaka Joshi manga artist Hataya is told to be responsible for the manga’s illustrations.
