Tech giant Microsoft as you can tell is closing in on its current console generation with the Xbox Series X shipping later this year. And while many fans are still unsure of what will effectively arrive to the platform aside from the dozen or so titles presented at last month’s Xbox Games Showcase, there is still a sense that the firm is unprepared to keep the momentum going with new projects.

The company this week disclosed that Halo Infinite will not be arriving with the next-generation system later this November that instantly resulted with users online conjuring what exactly the firm could be offering in the near future. And while other properties like The Medium, for instance, is anticipating in its own sense for Xbox Series X, fans are looking towards the first-party network of studios.

In that, Microsoft is continuing its pursuit to acquire new teams. Over a month ago, Xbox head Phil Spencer told that the firm is not cooling down its efforts to do so when speaking to gamesindustry.biz. And now in official documentation submitted by Microsoft to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Microsoft discloses it is still underway for more acquisition in the near future.

We continue to invest in new gaming studios and content to expand our IP roadmap and leverage new content creators. These unique gaming experiences are the cornerstone of Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service and gaming community with access to a curated library of over 100 first- and third-party console and PC titles.

The latest addition to the Xbox Game Studios roster happened well over a year ago with Psychonauts 2 developer, Double Fine Productions. Since then, Microsoft despite its apparent and very vocal ambitions to continue growing talent for its first-party studios has not directly disclosed what the firm will pursue next. Earlier this summer, the firm was reported to be interested in potentially purchasing Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment which consisted of mainline developers such as Rocksteady Studios and Traveller’s Tales.

However, the parent company for the publisher in recent days announced to be restructuring its properties and has repositioned Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under its Studios and Networks group. So that candidate is out of the picture for Microsoft’s possible acquisitions. So fans will have to sit patiently until the firm officially discloses what team is directly in its crosshairs later on.

What developer are you interested in seeing Microsoft acquire for Xbox Game Studios?
