The history of PlayStation & Final Fantasy has remained air tight for nearly two generations. So it came at no surprise when the remake of Final Fantasy VII would be unique to the platform. However, that would only be for a handful of years it is found out. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the 2020 release will be coming to Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, Nintendo Switch 2 would also be on the same menu as well.
Although it was clarified the game’s performance on the new Nintendo handheld would only operate at the standard 30hz, it was still a monumental announcement. This is not the first instance of a PlayStation-exclusive Final Fantasy releasing on opposing hardware. Just this past June, Square Enix shipped Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox Series X|S in a surprise shadow drop.
Now on Friday, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is to ship for Xbox Series X|S & Nintendo Switch 2 this January. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“Step into the reimagined world of a beloved RPG classic with the award-winning Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. A retelling of the original story of FINAL FANTASY VII up to the escape from Midgar, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade features a hybrid battle system that blends real-time action with strategic command,” the press release from Nintendo reads.
“Join Cloud, a former soldier wielding the iconic Buster Sword, as he takes on a mission that escalates into a struggle that will decide the planet’s future. Also included is FF7R Episode Intermission, a side story starring Yuffie Kisaragi that offers a fresh perspective parallel to Cloud’s journey.” It is also revealed that the recent Magic the Gathering collaboration with Square Enix will provide Play Booster for physical pre-orders of the game.
