For quite some time, many fans were eager to see what the new direction for Halo will be. Earlier on in 2025, it was revealed plans are to come to fruition on the first game at the Halo World Championship in October. As for the contents of the reveal, rumors surrounding the newly-formed Halo Studios indicated a remake of the first game.

Additionally, there were other details that are noteworthy on the development of Halo moving forward. The toolset available now is Unreal Engine 5. Now that 343 Industries has a new identity, it also has a fresh arsenal to create the Halo universe more seamlessly than with its prior proprietary engine. Microsoft also expressed that a deep dive for Halo is to take place at the presentation this week.

Now less than an hour before the livestream launched, the Xbox Store has listed the new Halo game – Halo: Campaign Evolved. As internal whispers has pointed to previously, it is confirmed that the original Halo: Combat Evolved is returning in Unreal Engine 5. It is noted that this is only the story portion and will not feature a matchmaking component.

The page continues by adding: “Play it your way: solo, in 2-player split-screen co-op (console only), or up to 4-player online co-op with full crossplay and cross-progression support.
