Blasted Steps Walkthrough Hollow Knight Silksong

Discover everything you need to know about the Blasted Steps walkthrough in Hollow Knight Silksong, including some useful tips.

Blasted Steps in Hollow Knight is the last area you reach in Act 1, featuring several challenges, enemies, NPCs, boss fights, and progression mechanics. Access the Blasted Steps from the west side of Shellwood. Make sure to defeat Widow in Bellhart and Sister Splinter to get there.

The Last Judge is a tough and mandatory boss at the summit of the Blasted Steps. Defeating this boss allows you to enter Act 2. Shakra, Lumble, and Pinstress are the three different NPCs you will encounter while exploring this region. In this guide, we’ll discuss how to progress in Blasted Steps, including some tricks to defeat The Last Judge.

Move To Shellwood

Make your way to the Shellwood Shellway via fast travel. Rest at the bench over there and continue moving to the left to go through multiple rooms. Eventually, you will find yourself in Blasted Steps. You need to get to the leftmost section of this region.

Find the Memory Locket

Travel back till you find a metal plate. Keep following the path to get to the entrance of Blasted Steps. Use 80 Rosaries to unlock the bench. It’s wise to rest at it to mark it as a checkpoint and restore HP. The worms can infest the sand and can deal double damage. Move through the ledges available on the left side and climb up. Defeat the Judge in the first place. Simply three to four strikes from the needle are enough to eliminate this creature.

Move down to the lower ledge from this enemy. Dropping down from the hole over there allows you to gather meager Shell Shard caches. However, the spiders will be guarding this area, so be careful. You need to move to the top of the main area to defeat the Pilgrim enemies. Keep moving to the right after pogoing off the bronze ball. Find the lever under the ledge.

Attack the lever to create a shortcut to the next room you want to enter. Continue moving after seeing the ceiling above you. Jump over the gaps to collect the Memory Locker after dropping down the right ledge. Move to the next room after moving to the top.

Purchase Blasted Steps Map

Keep moving forward to encounter a new enemy in the next chamber. Make sure to defeat them in the first place. Drop down from the gap to locate a body in a cage. Now, climb up to get to the next room. Here, you will encounter the Shakra from where you can purchase the map for 70 Rosaries.

Gather Silkeater

Move up from the wall from this Map seller NPC and travel to another Judge platform. Go to the right side of the platform and drop down to the ledge. You can find the Rosary cache on the right side. Use the needle to destroy the wall on the right side and collect the Silkeater from the spider egg.

Defeat the Great Conchflies

Make your way to that bench all the way on the far left-hand side. Unfortunately, there’s going to be a boss fight on the way. So, do be prepared for that. Use your Sprint jump to go across the distances. Once you get into the arena, the boss will appear.

Once you’ve defeated the boss, the pathway to the left will open up for you. You can proceed along a tricky, but not impossible, little parkour course. Sprint jump here, pass through this section of the map. This is where it starts to get a little bit harder, but still not hard. You just need to use your abilities during the fight. The point of the fight is to just stay patient. If you played the first game, think of it as a Mantid Lord.

Keep an eye on both Conchflies and just get in damage where you can. When they come out and open their mouth, they’re about to shoot one of their little cones. After they can drill into the ground. That’s actually a good opportunity to deal some damage.

Passthrough Platforms

For the longer platforms, you can stand on the far side and then sprint, jump, and then glide. Once you get all the way over to the left, where you can see a big balloon, you can’t pogo off it. However, if you just off to the right, there is a smaller balloon you can pogo off to get you to a higher platform.

Unlock Needle Strike

Once on the top platform, you will find yourself in a hut. Speak with the Pinstress. This will allow you to train with Pinstress, which will teach you the Needle Strike, where you hold your attack key to do a charged, deadly attack.

Interact with Lumble The Lucky

Move back through the Great Conchflies area. You need to rest at the bench, so climb up. After that, exit to the left after jumping over Bellway. You need to move down the shaft of hanging cages. Interact with the Lumble The Lucky NPC by following this path.

Defeat the Squirrms

Make your way back to the shaft and get inside the next exit you see above. There is a strange creature’s noise next. You need to move down from the hole and see where the noises are coming from. You can find specific enemies in this area in Hollow Knight Silksong.

Play your Needolin for a few seconds to let the enemies appear. Use the Thread Storm to defeat these enemies in this area. Move to the path on the right till you find a Shell Shard statue. Use the needle to break it.

Gather the Craftmetal

Climb to the wall and dodge all the spikes over there to rescue the Flea. These creatures are located at the top of this area. Travel back to the Bench and rest at it to save the game. Move east to enter the next large room. Be careful of the deadly enemies in this chamber. Drop down and find the secret tunnel under the sand dunes after reaching two bronze balls on the right side of the room. Collect the Craftmetal to upgrade your tool from this short path.

Eliminate The Last Judge Boss

Move to the secret passage and cross all the bronze balls to get into the main area path. Exit to the right after traveling to the end of the room. Talk to Tall Pilgrim near the gate. Speaking with this NPC allows you to unlock the Grand Gate quest. Defeating the Last Judge allows you to get into the Citadel and reach Act 2.

How to Defeat The Last Judge

This is the most challenging boss to defeat in Act 1 in Blasted Steps. You need to dash under him, then get a few attacks in close. Dash away from him, then dash in an attack. Dash away from him, then dash in an attack or wait.

You can also dash away and stay between the flames, or you can throw tools at him. Jump as he runs towards you and then position yourself between the flames. At one point, he’ll do his special move, which you just have to predict where the flames will go and stay in between them. When you defeat him, make sure to dash away from the explosion.

Hi, I’m Ali. I started gaming with Max Payne, and it set the tone for my interest in darker, more immersive experiences. I mostly play soulslikes, RPGs, and FPS titles that focus on tight mechanics and pacing.

I have a strong appreciation for game soundtracks and how they shape the overall experience. I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
