Toward the end of the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, Phil Spencer closed the show with an exciting statement for Xbox fans as they headed into their 25th anniversary in 2026. Next year, Xbox plans to release a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War E-Day, and Halo, from the sounds of it.
In 2026, Xbox players will celebrate a quarter-century of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War E-Day, and, “The return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning…”
The last line sounds like a tease for the rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved in Unreal Engine 5. Last year at the Halo World Championships, Halo Studios announced it had switched to the new engine for all future Halo games.
In that tease, they used the original Master Chief armor to show an example of how it’ll look. Many believe that it was not just a prototype but likely a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved. It’s likely this project would also come to PlayStation 5, according to previous leaks.
New Forza Horizon?
With Forza Horizon 5 now on PS5 and possibly coming to the Switch 2, Microsoft and Playground Games could be planning to release another game in the Horizon series. It’s too early to tell since the same developer has been working on the newest Fable.
What do you think about Xbox releasing new games from its classic franchises?
