Microsoft has announced that the 3.9 update for Killer Instinct enables cross-play between the Windows 10, Xbox One and Steam when it launches on the platform in the coming weeks. The cross-play feature is still being tested by Iron Galaxy to ensure it works as well as possible in time for Killer Instincts release on steam.
The company posted on Xbox Wire that this means that gamers will currently see the option for cross-play in the multiplayer menus but there will be times when this cannot be enabled or disappears entirely.
Microsoft has also taken the opportunity to reassure fans that while the cross-play is being worked on for Steam, and it will have zero impact on the ability to play Killer Instinct between Xbox and Windows 10 devices.
