Today, Warner Bros. Games announced that MultiVersus has now hit over 20 million players after only ten days ago it was at a total of 10 million players. The free-to-play platform fighter has been a hit since the open beat launched on July 26.
The game already had a major $100,000 tournament at EVO earlier in the month and Season 1 release on August 15 while Morty is coming out tomorrow, August 23 being the first character of many to come in Season 1. Some of the new fighters we know that will be joining MultiVersus are Black Adam, Stripe and Rick.
David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment spoke to GamesBeat and is quite excited for the future of its platform fighter.
“For us, MultiVersus is such an important critical step into that free-to-play, high-definition gaming category that we believe we can really do something meaningful in, in this case with a collection of our IP, and building a game from scratch that’s designed for live services and cross platform. And we’re thrilled to see by the 20 million that fans are really responding to it.”
There’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to MultiVersus especially in the esports scene where we expect it to succeed the most with its 2v2 mode.
