Developer Atomic Wolf shared during a previous Indie World live presentation back in December that is upcoming story-driven, comic platformer Liberated is planned to ship sometime in 2020, for Nintendo Switch at least. And as we are inching fairly close to the halfway mark for this year already, the Polish studio emerges to share that the wait is just on the horizon.

Actually – its next month. The development team announces that Liberated will officially be shipping the first week of June. You can watch the new CGI trailer for the game in the video below:

“Forget everything you know about comics. Immerse yourself in a dark, rain-soaked city. Use your wits, hack the system, sneak, and solve puzzles. And when the hell breaks loose, dispense picturesque headshots for great justice. Let the stunning hand-drawn art and action unite on the pages of this noir cyberpunk story,” the synapse for the core plot reads in the video’s description. Set in a near future dystopia, the government is over everyone’s shoulder as there is no way to escape the endless surveillance of everyday life.

Following in the footsteps of a cast of diverse characters, you experience their journey that unravels this totalitarian regime on individual liberties and the rebellion group calling themselves the ‘Liberated’. The title stands out the most from its comic-inspired approach to portray the story and its locations. Alongside the noir aesthetic painting the entire game monochrome only establishes a further unique look that we typically do not see with most games.

Last year, Rectify Gaming spoke with the game’s publisher L.INC where co-founder Robert Purzycki shared that the appearance captured for the project is the biggest hurdle to overcome for developer Atomic Wolf. Especially bridging momentum for the medium being used, there has to be striking consistency for the project to perform as anticipated. Yo ucan read the full feature by heading here.
