New Xbox/Discord Partnership Announced With Game Pass Integration Coming Soon

Years ago in 2021, it was understood that Discord would be a major focus on PlayStation. At the time, Sony Interactive Entertainment did issue a minor stake investment into the firm which suggested potential unique benefits for its platform. But, it never went that way. In fact, Discord shipped first on Xbox. It was not until 2023 that the service officially hit PlayStation then.

Since the adoption of Discord on Xbox, there has been additional features that shipped on the platform most surprisingly. In that, it was revealed in the September 2023 update that game streaming via Discord would roll out first on Xbox as well. Not only that, but that a separate update in 2024 would usher other elements like improved livestreaming as well.

Now pushing into 2026 already, there is more news regarding Discord on Xbox. On X, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has announced that a new partnership with Discord & Xbox is underway with plans to spare more details later on in 2026.

“For years, Xbox and @discord have worked together to make it easier for players to connect, chat, and play across devices,” Sharma wrote in the post. “We’re teaming up again as we continue to make Game Pass more flexible for our players. Some of you might start to see some code in the wild, and we will share more details with you all soon!”

Recently, Sharma has proven to be a massive gamechanger for Xbox. On Tuesday this week, it was announced that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate & PC Game Pass would both be reduced in price.
