When the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed reports came out that within its first year Nintendo aimed to have 20 million units produced in its first year. According to a new report by Bloomberg, they now aim to produce up to 25 million Switch 2 units by the end of March 2026.
Producing this many consoles would set a first-year record for a console that has already started breaking sales records. The Switch 2 became the fastest-selling console at launch within its first four days, selling 3.5 million units.
After the Switch 2’s first seven weeks, it sold 6 million units. No updated sales numbers since then have been revealed by the company.
Bloomberg mentions that Nintendo is likely to sell around 17.6 million consoles in the fiscal year, which ends in March 2026, but can’t rule out selling just about 20 million.
Normally, with a new console launch as popular as the Nintendo Switch 2 it’s rare you’ll easily find units so easily at local stores. Nintendo has made it possible so far with its latest console.
