Stockholm-based publisher Paradox Interactive announced this week that the firm will be stretching its arms over the European Union as it opens a new studio in Barcelona, Spain. In a press release from the video game publisher, Paradox Interactive reveals that the new team will be helmed by Johan Andersson who’s been imbedded in Paradox Development for more than two decades.

Andersson is also posed as the creator for Europa Universalis and is shared to be taking the leading role at the newly founded ‘Paradox Tinto’ to continue ushering the fourth installment for the series.

I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to build up a new studio in a new location, putting the knowledge accumulated through the decades of building games and development studios into good use. My goal is to assemble a team and create a fully functional studio to keep on developing the Europa Universalis brand, and later design and develop new grand strategy games.

Paradox Interactive CEO Charlotta Nilsson share excitement in the firm’s new focus towards the genre of game. “People love our games and we love the fact that we are growing to create more for them, we’re particularly pleased to expand for the first time with a new studio focusing on the core game genre we’re famous for: grand strategy.”

Nilsson adds that operations for Paradox Tinto will include hirings for roughly 200 employees for the Barcelona team following its commencement this week. Even more, Paradox Interactive also linked job listings for the studio which you can access by heading here.

Elsewhere, Paradox Interactive has shared to be involved with the now- postponed Guerrilla Collective independent game showcase. The online-hosted event was initially slated to be held this Saturday June 6, but has now been pushed to the later June 13 next week in spirit of supporting the ongoing U.S. protests currently.
