Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves Announced, Set For 2027 Release

Just this past fall, The Pokémon Company & GameFreak shipped Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The new release is a follow-up to Pokémon X & Pokémon Y as the series returns to Lumiose City in its new open-world approach. Just after the first week of the game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A was recorded to at least selling over 5.8 million copies which shows there is still a strong demand for the Pokémon series.

Additionally, GameFreak was not finished with the game just out the gate. It was for later in December that the team would move on to ship an expansion for its newest game: Mega Dimension. The DLC would inject plenty of story content as well as Pokémon to engage with as well. And now come March, The Pokémon Company & Koei Tecmo is preparing its release for the new cozy game Pokémon Pokopia on March 5th.

During the recent Pokémon Presents showcase, The Pokémon Company closed the presentation with the first official look at the newest Pokémon game, Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“Developed by Game Freak exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, these new titles feature an open world to explore, with beautiful windswept islands and a vast ocean with glittering waves. The Pokémon that live in harmony with this region’s lush environment have developed their own unique ecosystems. During this adventure, you’ll team up with all kinds of Pokémon to overcome both the difficult road ahead and even the forces of nature that block your path at times,” the synopsis reads.

“Your main character will sport a different outfit depending on which version of the game you play—and of course, you’ll set out with one of three first partner Pokémon. Will you choose a Grass type by partnering with Browt, the lively but clumsy Bean Chick Pokémon? Or perhaps you’ll heat things up with a Fire type by picking Pombon, the guileless and friendly Puppy Pokémon. If Water types are more your speed, then the intelligent Water Gecko Pokémon, Gecqua, might be the partner for you.”
