How long is Exit Pursued By A Bruised Ego?
This mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 is not too long. It could take you approximately 20 minutes to complete, and that would include any cutscenes.
Exit Pursued By A Bruised Ego Guide

To begin this quest, head to the Horseshoe Overlook and talk to Hosea. On the map, he is marked with H. After speaking with Hosea, he will ask you to go hunting for a Bear. After the dialog sequence finishes, you’ll take the black horse to Valentine. Walk up to your original horse and move the saddle to the black horse.

Once you are saddled up, follow Hosea. You’ll get to Valentine and walk up to the Stable to deliver the horse. A cutscene will appear once you arrive, and you’ll have the option to sell or Stable the horse. If you sell the horse, you’ll earn $65.00 by doing so. You’ll then have the option to purchase a new horse. The cheapest horse at the Stable is Morgan, which is $15. It might be wise to keep the newly acquired horse rather than sell it. For this guide, we sold the horse and purchased Morgan.
After finishing at the Stable, another cutscene appears as Arthur gets ready for his new horse. Mount the horse and follow Hosea as you head to hunt.

Hunting A Rabbit
As you arrive at your destination, Moonstonse Pond, a scenic cutscene appears. Continue to follow Hosea, and as you go along, you’ll find Rabbits. Hosea insists you try to hunt them down for food. To kill the rabbits, you can use a bow or a .22 caliber varmint rifle. For this, I find it easiest to use a bow and arrow.
After killing the rabbit, pick it up, skin it, and go to Hosea. He will then ask you to make a campfire so you can settle in for the night before the big hunt. To set up the campfire, go to your weapon wheel, go to Items, and find the Crafting Camp at the bottom of the wheel. Once you perform the action, a cutscene will appear, and then you’ll start to cook the rabbit you hunted.
Next, fast forward to the morning. After the cutscene, you’ll craft Potent Predator Bait to get the Bear’s attention. Mount your horse and follow Hosea again.

You’ll walk up near the water, get off the horse, and find the clue of where the Bear could be by pressing the action button. Follow the trail that heads north. The trail will lead you to Half-Eaten Fish, where you’ll want to inspect. Continue to follow the trail where you’ll find Bear Dung, which will then lead you to where the Bear will be. A cutscene should appear again once you get closer.
An option will come up to either split up with Hosea or use the Bait. In our playthrough, we chose to use the Bait. To attract the Legendary Bear, walk up to the Large Stones to place the Bait. Now, go back to the rocks and wait for the Bear.
Once the Legendary Bear appears, you’ll be prompted to shoot the bear. It will attack you, making it hard for Arthur to escape. After trying to fight the bear, it will run away. Walk back to Hosea, and he will give you a map to find big animals.
After receiving the map, you can either stay at the location or go with Hosea. This will be the conclusion of the Exit Pursued By A Bruised Ego quest.
