In regards to the upcoming release for Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon in the west, there is a catch for how it will release. It being that the game despite launching the same day as the Xbox Series X|S will not hit PlayStation 5 upon arrival. Instead users will have to sit patiently until the next-gen version arrives at an undisclosed date.
Granted, the game will arrive to PlayStation 4, but fans that migrate over to PlayStation 5 will have to sit this one out until the title arrives to the platform. In a new announcement today, RGG Studio on Twitter shared a new trailer for Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon revealing that the title will hit PlayStation 5 this coming March.
You can view the trailer in the tweet below:
Additionally, the firm also tells that those who plan on picking up the PlayStation 4 version will automatically inherit the PlayStation 5 version for no additional cost. Alike on Xbox with Smart Delivery, PlayStation users will not be burdened with Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon by needing to purchase the game again for the newer hardware.
Even more in a separate tweet, the Japanese developer also discloses that physical owners of Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon can still use the original PlayStation 4 disk on the PlayStation 5. Derived from the ability to use the tangible key for the game, it is understood that those deciding to go the route of owning a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition would be withheld of using the disk. RGG Studio does not expand on the matters of moving over to the disk tray-free unit.
More on the next-generation version, Ryu Go Gotoku also verifies alike other PlayStation 5 titles migrating to the newer hardware – i.e. Marvel’s Spider-Man – save data will not be paired with cross-buy support.
