Rockstar Games has been in some hot water following the recent discovery of how their employees have been working a dangerous amount of hours on the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. Former employees of the studio have came out anonymously with stories of crunch for previous released titles since then, leaving the studio walking on egg shells as we reach the release of the approaching release this Friday (October 26).
In a recent interview with Fashion Magazine GQ, Rockstar’s Dan Houser spoke on the topic of today’s current politics and where their future titles will stand for on certain touchy topics. mentioning the next Grand Theft Auto and how the anticipated title won’t be releasing in the political state we’re presently in.
Houser told the magazine in the interview:
It’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did,” Houser told GQ. “Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry. It is scary but it’s also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd. It’s hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast.
Followed in the conversation with Red Dead 2 being the main topic through out, it’s easy to tell Rockstar wants to tread easy in the type of world that’s currently taking place. Looking back at previous Rockstar titles like Grand theft Auto San Andreas & Manhunt, the studio was once seen as dangerous with the content present in the worlds they’ve created. Especially as some have even been straight up banned in entire countries.
Which makes their position more interesting as the once dangerous viewed developer is now taking a step back when creating content in front of opposed minds in today’s society.
In other Rockstar-related news, casting calls for the possible Bully 2 have been discovered recently in the United Kingdom.
