For more than a decade, the desire for a new Silent Hill title was dire as Konami remained quiet on plans moving forward. And with Hideo Kojima gone with his own venture at Kojima Productions, it was unclear if a new game would come. But the first announcement from Konami did not mince words as it was confirmed a remake for Silent Hill 2 is in development.
After a creative partnership was solidified between both Konami & Bloober Team, it was a limited list on what this could entail. The announcement confirmed the project would be handled by the Layers of Fear developer. Coming to PlayStation 5, it was left undated, however. This week, Konami is hosting another Silent Hill Transmission likely giving an update on the project.
But ahead of the showcase at the May 2024 State of Play, Konami revealed Silent Hill 2 Remake launches this October. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“Having received a letter from his deceased wife, James heads to where they shared so many memories, in the hope of seeing her one more time: Silent Hill. There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her…” the YouTube description reads. “‘My name… is Maria,’ the woman smiles. Her face, her voice… She’s just like her. Experience a master-class in psychological survival horror―lauded as the best in the series―on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.“
Additionally, the PlayStation presentation did not hold back on another anticipated announcement. In that, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed Astro Bot is coming this fall to PlayStation 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
