Fans who have been more on the edge about how the trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie would turn out seem to have been right for why they should worry following the first look of Sega’s Blue Blur in the film’s first trailer. Similar to how many responded following the debut of Detective Pikachu with the countless super realistic looking Pokémon that left fans more unsettled than excited had the same feeling for Sonic.
Rather than slowly accepting it when more trailers continue to emerge for the forthcoming film, many within the first week have demanded that Director Jeff Fowler to “fix” the protagonist as he does not resemble his more traditional character model from the game series. From Sonic’s slender arms and legs to questionable use of fur and even his human-like teeth, many saw the model to be more than just and film-adapted mistake, but truly problematic for countless fans.
This Thursday, the Fast and Furious Director took it to Twitter to reveal that him and his team will be working to meet the expectations of fans for how Sonic’s body should actually look like.
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️

For how the studio decides to rework Sonic to earn fan trust for the upcoming film has yet to be discussed upon. But looking at how many complained about the character’s specific flaws, it shouldn’t be too difficult I assume for fans to be happy with the new planned look that Paramount Pictures has in store.
Now that we know a new Sonic is on the way, let’s hope this does not affect the outcome of the movie as it is already in post-production. Especially as the film’s date is already out in the open, it’s implied that Fowler is sticking to that date as films typically don’t extend their box office release.
Sonic the Hedgehog is set to hit theaters on November 8, 2019.
