For the Fallout universe, the world is ripe for a new major release. But with The Elder Scrolls VI still years away, it will be some time until a proper mainline entry comes. But, the series has found new life with the Amazon TV series. Just last week, Fallout Season 2 aired bringing the television show to New Vegas. According to The Ghoul actor Walton Goggins, Season 2 is in an entirely different realm compared to the first wave of episodes in 2023.
What’s exciting is how tightly knit the TV show is to the games. Todd Howard previously confirmed that the canon of the games & show are intertwined. Additionally, Howard during Season 1’s airing confirmed the events of Fallout: New Vegas are also confirmed to the lore’s timeline which has been questioned for more than a decade. And with at least five season expected for the Amazon series, there is plenty that can be conjoined for the greater Fallout universe.
Recently speaking to Variety, Howard explained that the events of the Fallout TV show – specifically Fallout Season 3 – is to tie directly into the games. Howard disclosed that the storyline for the upcoming Fallout 5 is to face the results of the decisions made in the Fallout television series.
“For us on the game and TV show side, we’re writing Season 3 now. We’re having those conversations now of, what are we doing in Season 3 for the TV show and what elements can we bring into our games at that time when it comes out that don’t feel forced or fake.” Howard also went on to express excitement for the show’s weekly release schedule to pace how the show is consumed.
The discussion of tie-ins is nothing new – at least as of this month. Proper lore for Amazon Prime’s Fallout crossed with Fallout 76 in the ‘Burning Springs’ update that release earlier this December. Goggins reprises his role as The Ghoul in a new setting based in post-apocalyptic Ohio. You can read the full report by heading here.
