Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced it will be taking on a €1.16 billion investment from Tencent to restructure its current operation as a publisher. As a result, there has been confidence in working on legacy IPs from the firm’s vault. Already, it was confirmed a new Ghost Recon first-person shooter is on the way. Additionally, its Montpellier studio verified a new Rayman game is also in the pipeline as well.

As a result of the involvement from Tencent, Ubisoft also revealed new leadership for the publisher. It was announced that Charlie Guillemot & Christophe Derennes are both to stand as co-CEOs for the company. Other details that appears to be influenced by its benefactor is the recent statement from Yves Guillemot that Far Cry is to adopt major multiplayer elements for its next mainline release.

Recently, Ubisoft alongside Tencent revealed that the two are forming a new venture that will overlook some of Ubisoft’s household IPs. It was announced that it will be forming Vantage Studios as the new developer is to guide new projects for Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

“Vantage Studios represents a first step in Ubisoft’s ongoing transformation, with plans to set up additional creative houses and group its brands and franchises under the banner of a shared DNA and development expertise. The goal of Vantage Studios, and future creative houses, is to facilitate stronger and deeper connections between developers and players,” Ubisoft senior editorial & communications manager Daniel O’Connor writes.

“This streamlined approach allows for both a higher level of autonomy for developers and a shorter pathway between gathering and implementing player feedback, while still offering the benefit of Ubisoft’s expertise, services, tools, and tech. Comprising teams developing the Rainbow Six, Assassin’s Creed, and Far Cry franchises based in Ubisoft’s studios in Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia, Vantage Studios brings together thousands of experienced developers from across the world, many of whom are responsible for creating some of Ubisoft’s biggest games.”
