2025 is the year for all things Yakuza/Like a Dragon. Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku noted this in late 2024 as the IP approaches its two decade anniversary. And so far, this year kicked off with a prominent release in the form of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Other celebrations included a collaboration to bring themed items to Among Us earlier this spring. Even Yakuza 0 received a Nintendo Switch 2 release as well.
Aiming towards the end of 2025, there is even more to be excited for. Again, Nintendo Switch 2 fans are eager to experience both Yakuza Kiwami & Yakuza Kiwami 2 later this November. In prime Tokyo Game Show season, there has been excitement swelling for a remake of the beloved Yakuza 3 as well. Even through accidental leaks online, it was practically known that Yakuza Kiwami 3 would be coming.
And RGG Studio during its ‘Summit’ livestream did just that. Alongside ‘Dark Tides’ that acts as a prequel to the events of Yakuza 3 – fans have plenty to look forward to. For platforms outside of Nintendo Switch 2, the recent updated ports are also coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC later this December. You can watch the segment of the livestream in the video below:
Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be releasing in December delivering the titles with updated improvements for newer consoles. Noted, it appears that these games will be separate versions from what was available already digitally on the respected platforms. It is also understood that there is no upgrade option for current owners of the original versions too.
Also from Sega this week, it provided new details on Sonic Racing Crossworlds. The title that will feature Ichiban Kasuga as a DLC character has pressed on the last additions for its post-launch plans. Both Mega Man as well as Protoman will be coming to the game after its proper release this week. You can read the full report by heading here.
