Trademarks For Ever Crisis, The First Soldier, Shinra Logo Filings Surface From Square Enix

In the sense as for the coming future regarding Final Fantast VII, it is expected that the second portion of the remake is to be underway. In a statement issued by director Tetsuya Nomura, he issues that development for the second increment has already commenced back in December 2019. So for the time being, it is expected more will be unveiled when Square Enix is prepared to reveal more on the development of the second issue.

However, there is potentially more entries that could abide to the story for Final Fantasy VII outside of the same-named remake that is still underway. Through three new trademarks that were filed by Square Enix this Tuesday, it is suspected that the publisher is preparing the legal rights for new games that are due for an announcement at some point.

In that, it is uncovered that Square Enix filed trademarks for both “Ever Crisis” and “The First Soldier” on December 17, 2020 alongside a filing for the Shinra Electric Power Company logo on December 22, 2020 in Japan. It was this week that these filings were made public.

More interesting is that each of the aforementioned trademarks holds some relation to 1997’s Final Fantasy VII. The first, “Ever Crisis”, is a run on title with the previous Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII for mobile devices and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation Portable. Then, “The First Soldier” directly relates to the game’s antagonist, Sephiroth brandished with the title.

And, of course, the logo for the Shinra Electric Power Company is also derived from Final Fantasy VII with the fictitious firm being associated with the title. Some fans suspect that perhaps Square Enix is planning to give Sephiroth a platform for his own story, but the prediction is heavy speculation in the time of reporting.

In relevance to Final Fantasy recently, Microsoft did comment that it is still planning to pursue the remaining promised Final Fantasy titles for Xbox. Those include Final Fantasy X: HD Remastered, Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remastered, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
