Upon the release of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, the launch held an immense amount of hype that has yet to be seen in any title from the developer – and it delivered. In Rectify Gaming’s review for Elden Ring, we scored the game 10/10 then. “When I say that Elden Ring has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time, I am not exaggerating that fact. It has all the best elements of my favorite games in one package.”
And upon the release of its DLC ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ it was also nominated for Game of the Year in 2024. Response to the glowing reception for Elden Ring has went on to greenlit more projects. According to FromSoftware the developer has multiple projects underway. But, it does confirm that a proper sequel is not part of that equation currently.
In a new development when speaking to IGN, Elden Ring writer George R.R. Martin has pressed that discussions are underway for a live-action film on the FromSoftware release. “Well, I can’t say too much about it, but there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring,” he said. Martin as part of his response was to dodge questions about a potential sequel.
As for the foundation for where the movie will be produced, it is very likely Sony Pictures. After weeks of potential buyouts from the PlayStation firm, parent company Kadokawa announced a new ‘Strategic Capital and Business Alliance’. This included a new effort to create and produce live-action films & television shows for the publisher’s franchises.
In regards to future plans for Elden Ring, its upcoming multiplayer experience is set to release this May. Announced this past December, Elden Ring Nightreign was just recently confirmed to launch later this spring and will feature three-player co-op. You can read the full report by heading here.
