It has been over a decade since PlayStation returned to the Sly Cooper franchise. In 2013, it released Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time & Bentley’s Hackpack on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. However, little on the series has moved in the following years. While there were murmurs of a potential film adaptation following Ratchet & Clank’s attempt at the box office, nothing manifested from only reports.
In a previous statement, Sucker punch Productions have confirmed a new entry was not in the works. “We have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now,” the team said back in 2022. Additionally, rumors online swirled implicating that a new Sly Cooper is on the way. However, insider Jason Schreier confirmed that the claims were nothing more than conjecture.
Even with later Sly Cooper developer Sanzaru being acquired by Meta in 2020, chances for a new installment is very slim. Now speaking on the IP recently, Ghost of Yōtei co-director Nate Fox told MinnMax that morale for a new game if it would be greenlit is only about 10 percent. You can watch the segment in the video below:
“Ten percent,” Fox answered in the interview. “It’s been a long time, Ben, since Sly Cooper has come out.” Majority of the ‘Rapid-Fire Questions’ video was aimed towards Sucker Punch Productions’ new release, Ghost of Yotei. The new title is prepared to release next month on October 2nd.
On the topic of Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost series, it was revealed that an anime adaptation for Ghost of Tsushima is to release on Crunchyroll. Currently, it is slated to release in the next two years from its January announcement. You can read the full report by heading here.
