Without a question, Battlefield 6 has continued to usher a new wave of excitement over this past weekend. Previously during the open beta for the game, the public playtest was met with over 550,000 concurrent players then. That on top of the state of the game also showed to win over many fans. In one interview, it was revealed working on the lesser powerful Xbox Series S help optimize the game overall on all hardware.
Came the release of Battlefield 6, DICE already paved the way for its post-launch plans. On October 28th, Season 1 will kick off with Rogue Ops which includes a new map, weapons, and game mode. As for the response to Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is showing its answer already. It was revealed that Skill Based Matchmaking will be removed from the title come its release in November.
And not even a full week since the release of Battlefield 6, there are already glaring milestones being set by the new release. Via a press release from publisher Electronic Arts, it is revealed that Battlefield 6 within its first three days already sold 7 million units – a new record for the franchise.
“First and foremost we want to thank our players. Battlefield 6 was built with our fans. From the initial concept through to the implementation of Battlefield Labs and into the record-shattering Open Beta we have been obsessed with player feedback. Together, with our players we’ve had a singular goal: to craft the best Battlefield ever. And this is just the beginning – our first season of new content is just 12 days away,” general manager Byron Beede says in a statement.
Executive vice president Vince Zampella also says: “We never take moments like this for granted, so I want to express our sincere gratitude to our global Battlefield Studios and passionate community that has helped get us to this point. We appreciate you joining us for Battlefield 6’s momentous launch. We have so much more to come in the weeks ahead.” Similarly, PC activity has show similar results in engagement.
Through Steam Charts, it is revealed over 656,000 players were online for Battlefield 6. Comparatively, this shatters the previous numbers for older releases. Battlefield 2042 had 107,006, Battlefield V with 114,017, and Battlefield 1 at 53,107. In conjunction with how Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 open beta performed, that only sat at 491K which is still shy of Battlefield’s numbers.
