PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures announced that Jason Momoa will star in the upcoming adaptation of Helldivers, based on Arrowhead Game Studios’ video game series. Justin Lin is set to direct, and the film is planned to release on November 10, 2027.
The movie was made official at CES 2025, and this is the first time we have heard of any cast members being part of the project.
Helldivers 2 sold more than 12 million units on PS5 and PC, and was then released on Xbox Series in August 2025, bringing new collabs with Halo 3: ODST. The game’s Xbox release also brought new life to the game as it shot up 500K concurrent players last Summer.
This wouldn’t be Momoa’s first time starring in a video game adaptation. He starred in the very popular Minecraft movie that was released last year.
2027 looks to be another stacked year for video game movies as The Legend of Zelda plans to release in the Spring, and Sonic 4 is still planned for that timeframe as well.
