A new video game adaptation has been reported to be in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Battlefield movie is in the works with Christopher McQuarrie attached to write, direct, and produce.
Michael B. Jordan is also reported to be involved with the Battlefield movie. He’s expected to produce and possibly star in the film, but that’s depending on many factors. According to the outlet, several people, aside from McQuarrie, pitched studios and streamers such as Apple and Sony on Thursday, with other meetings occurring today. The plan is for the Battlefield movie to be a theatrical release, so it’s possible Netflix could be out of the equation for now.
Regardless of what happens, the Battlefield adaptation is in its very early stages.
Battlefield 6 is the latest installment in the first-person shooter franchise and was the ultimate comeback game after a lackluster release of Battlefield 2042.
Video game adaptations are taking the world by storm, with multiple releases coming almost every year. So far in 2026, we have seen The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have great success at the box office. In 2027, we can expect to see The Legend of Zelda, Sonic 4, and A Minecraft Sequel.
