Since the release of Horizon Zero Dawn with The Frozen Wilds expansion following, it’s been uncertain what’s next from the Amsterdam-based studio, Guerrilla Games. Despite some thinking of another new IP in the works, many assume the developer will return to the Killzone franchise with the recent discovery from a user on ResetEra.
User DriftingSpirit posted a thread of his findings revealing that two developers who previously worked on Ubisoft’s Rainbow 6: Siege has been picked up by Guerrilla Games for an unannounced project. Simon Larouche who previously worked on Killzone 2 has returned back to the Dutch studio along with cohort Chris Lee to work on the unnamed title.
Seeing that Guerrilla Games has picked up those who worked on multiplayer-focused titles show a clear indication that we could see the next installment in the Killzone series. Or possibly a multiplayer portion of Horizon Zero Dawn, but that’s just a fun guess.
If it’s true to see another Killzone, hopefully Guerrilla Games learned from the most recent title, Killzone Shadow Fall. Though the game was a flagship title during the launch of the PlayStation 4 in 2013, selling fairly well: the futuristic first-person shooter was received about average. As it didn’t deceive fans like Killzone 2 did, there is a chance to see the franchise shine bright just in time for the next generation.
