Last week, it was reported that Japanese video game developer PlatinumGames would disclose the next project from the team in the approaching Famitsu weekly issue. And the day has arrived as the piece disclosing the newest title from the studio is now available to read. However, the coverage is only in Japanese which might be difficult for fans in the west to decipher what this new title is.

But now worries, Director Hideki Kamiya made a post on the pages website to share what this upcoming game is all about. Leading up to discussing the project, Kamiya shares a little back story of PlatinumGames: telling of the previous work that the team has released and the journey that the company is planning to take for future titles.

Announcing Project G.G., this will be the first intellectual property from PlatinumGames completely in jurisdiction under the studio, Kamiya explains in the post.

Which brings us to Project G.G. (that’s just a working title, by the way. Project G.G. is different. Unlike any of the games we’ve made so far, it’s going to be a 100% PlatinumGames title. For everything from its setting and characters, to its game design and story, to how it’s promoted – PlatinumGames is in full control.

Kamiya then goes to clarify that this new title from PlatinumGames will also be a first for new decisions. And while that is nothing to complain about, he suggests that the team experimenting with new ideas might be a sacrifice that fans of the team might not like when in their hands. He tells that the project will be a while until we see more as the team is just “stepping up to the starting line,” so fans anticipating what this title will be will have to be patient.

The title as report previously is to be the second entry of the self-publishing initiative organized by the developer, Platinum4. The trailer provided teases a troubled city in between a battle of two gigantic forces destroying the city.
