While the two Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles have been out for more than half a year now, obtaining said systems is still a feat to achieve. However, despite the scarcity of each system respectively, many of the promises from Microsoft in terms of performance aligns evenly – especially with the latter system. Firstly, Xbox Series S in a general sense does perform better than Xbox Series X, namely due to the lower rendered resolution which answers for a higher framerate.

Additionally, load times in a range of examples prove to overtake Xbox Series X. Again in similarity to the beefier unit pumping out higher resolution alongside potential raytracing/particle effects, stress on rendering games require more time to queue. However, one claim from Xbox’s Phil Spencer is still underway: Xbox Series S to outsell the Xbox Series X. While the systems are breaking records, Microsoft has yet to release which model is selling more.

One similarity that the Xbox Series X offered with its predecessors, however, is the internal branding of its components. Upon the up-and-coming back in 2020 for the next-generation, it was learned that the system has a Halo easter egg on its internal structure. Now according to a recent teardown of the Xbox Series S, the same is said for the smaller unit’s power supply.

You can watch the trailer in the video below:

Generalizing the entire video comes to appreciate the technological achievement that the Xbox Series X is, Digital Foundry explains. “And my conclusion, [a] simply brilliantly designed machine, it really is”, Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter shared. “If a PC manufacturer put out a mini computer like this, it’d be getting rave reviews. The concept of it being a mainstream console […] it’s phenomenal.”

However, while the arrangement of components and silicon is a work of art to the Eurogamer group, some developers do not feel the same. In that, Remedy Entertainment previously expressed working on a version of Control for the latter unit to be a setback for pushing boundaries.

Elsewhere in terms of Xbox Series S recently, manufacturer UPspec revealed its Kickstarter campaign for xScreen: an attachable accessory allowing owners to connect a display to the $300 device. The crowdfunded project received more than $100K upon concluding the posting. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised Microsoft even put an Halo easter egg in the Xbox Series S as well?
