The recent stretch of Yakuza news recently has been energetic to say the least. With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 also came with Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut. And while the game is an exciting release for the platform, there will be a wider launch on more platforms next month, RGG Studio announced previously.
Atop of that, players can also look forward to Yakuza Kiwami 3 officially launching later in 2026 as well. Come February will deliver a fully reworked version of 2006’s Yakuza 3 with improved combat, visuals, and content to flesh out Okinawa. Additionally, there is a standalone experience ‘Dark Ties’ that is to release with the full game exploring the upbringing of antagonist Yoshitaka Mine.
Recently, RGG Studio & Sega announced that the plans for Yakuza 0/Yakuza Kiwami/Yakuza Kiwami 2 will release offering exclusive discounts for digital owners of the original versions. Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be free; Yakuza Kiwami will cost $.99; Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut will cost $14.99. However, there is other troubling news as the original version of Yakuza 0 will be delisted come this new version in December.
“Yakuza 0 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam will no longer be available for new purchases from December 8th at 08:30 am PST. Those who get Yakuza 0 by 08:29 am PST on December 8th can continue to download and play the title.” However, there is no returning of the game with the newer Director’s Cut taking its place.
This is not out of character for Sega as its actions have illustrated in the past. Came the release of Sonic Origins, the firm delisted all included titles from storefronts in 2022. Similarly, Sega also issued a wave of delistings for classic Sega releases just last year on Steam abruptly too. You can read the full report by heading here.
