As of this past December, the PlayStation 5 hit an exciting milestone. Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed that the 2020-released console shipped over 92 million units. This is a major feat for the platform and shows demand is still present for the console. This also includes the later PlayStation 5 Pro, mid-generation refresh. The console since launch has been following just in the shadow of the PlayStation 4 Pro, it is reported.

However, there are still things to be excited for the PlayStation 5 Pro. With the console came PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution). The technology behind it is impressive, but it was confirmed a revamp to the system overall would face an overhaul in the new year. In February, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially shipped PSSR 2 which showed noticeable improvements to titles like Resident Evil Requiem.

Now this week, a wave of enhancements are rolling out for PlayStation 5 Pro in direct collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that there will be a separate update for Cyberpunk 2077 at a later date. You can read the full list below:

“We were excited to collaborate with Sony Interactive Entertainment on this advancement to their upscaling technology for the PlayStation 5 Pro, offering players the opportunity to experience Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II with improved PSSR, while preserving our creative vision for the game,” Ninja Theory studio head Dom Matthews shared in a statement.

“The upgraded PSSR improves image upscaling quality and stability. The improvements allow efficient stochastic sampling without sacrificing image stability. The new PSSR responds quickly to visibility changes in games, keeping motion clear while improving temporal stability,” said Tatu Aalto o Remedy Entertainment. “With the new PSSR, we’re delivering a meaningful improvement in image quality while still maintaining stable framerates in Fidelity and Performance modes,” added Maciej Kurowski, BioWare studio technical director.
