While Pokémon already felt like it filled in all crevices that is could, it went ahead and shipped Pokémon Pokopia this past spring confirming that fans also needed a proper Pokémon cozy game. And it did not take long for the game to be an instant hit. On Nintendo Switch 2, the game sold over 2.2 million copies within the first week.
Additionally, Pokémon Pokopia went on to track over 4 million units by May this past month. But it is expected that even more metrics favoring Pokémon Pokopia will come out in due time. This is to blame for the recent Nintendo Switch 2 ‘Choose Your Game’ Bundle that was announced. The bundle opens the option to pick between Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Pokémon Pokopia.
At the recent Nintendo Direct this week, it was announced that Pokémon Pokopia is launching a new Expansion Pass this week. In anticipation for the release of new paid DLC coming in August, a free update will also roll out then as well. You can watch the Expansion Pass trailer in the video below:
“The Pokémon Pokopia experience continues under the sea with a free update arriving this August! Players will be able to explore the ocean floor using the new move Dive to plant grass, build structures, and create their own underwater towns alongside Pokémon,” the press release shared by Nintendo says on the new content coming to Pokémon Pokopia.
“The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass paid DLC1 is also on the way, introducing three parts of additional content. Part 1 of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass paid DLC, Bubbly Basin, will launch this August and invite players to “Dive” into a new underwater town filled with new furniture, outfits, and Pokémon friends.”
