
Although Netflix capitalized on the entertainment industry pioneering video streaming to what we associate with today, the firm is now making moves to enter the video game industry as well.While the firm is not looking to tackle head on with the likes of Nintendo or Microsoft with a in-house built console, it is bringing games to its platform. The launch of Netflix Games delivered a selection of games to Android users.
Additionally, we witnessed the firm outright acquire developers as well including developer for the upcoming Oxenfree II Night School Games. But, that appeared to only be the tip of the iceberg. Netflix elsewhere revealed its purchase plans for Next Games as well. But, that was only one buyout with another already established.
This week Netflix revealed its third acquisition for its gaming venture is of Boss Fight Entertainment. The team is most notable for its work on Dungeon Boss which hit Google Play Store & The App Store.
Boss Fight’s mission is to bring simple, beautiful, and fun game experiences to our players wherever they want to play. Netflix’s commitment to offer ad-free games as part of members’ subscriptions enables game developers like us to focus on creating delightful game play without worrying about monetization. We couldn’t be more excited to join Netflix at this early stage as we continue doing what we love to do while helping to shape the future of games on Netflix together.
Netflix’s first-party team grows as it shares the latest acquisition is to further “build out our in-house creative development team.” As of Netflix’s roadmap for the remainder of March 2022, three more games are to be added to its platform. Those include Into The Dead 2: Unleashed, Shatter Remastered, and This Is A True Story. But, April is to deliver more unique experiences as well.
