Shortly after the new power shift for leadership at Xbox, the new Xbox boss Asha Sharma unveiled Project Helix. While only a teaser for the working title of the next-generation Xbox, it was understood that the new campaign for the upcoming hardware has begun. Previously, AMD did share confidence that Microsoft would likely deliver on releasing its new console by 2027 sometime then.

As for what has been confirmed by Sharma’s new standing at Microsoft, she has revealed some exciting details thus far. For Project Helix, it was disclosed just this week that Copilot will be absent from further development on the new Xbox SKU. Additionally, the details administered behind closed doors at GDC earlier this winter revealed that PC is the catalyst for next-generation Xbox as games will be developed for that platform and can be reconfigured for Xbox to offer better parity for developers.

Online recently, there has been some subtle nods to what Project Helix will bring to consumers upon release. On X, Sharma did share a new boot up that will be rolling out for consoles next week.

From the footage of the boot up, it is indicated that the new chime will be applicable to Xbox Series consoles only. The sound coined from this boot up is identical to the one for both Xbox Series X & Xbox Series S. The only difference is that it now utilizes the updated Xbox logo that is being branded for the new generation underway. But, that is not all that Microsoft has been teasing for Project Helix.

Recently, the firm shared that the console will be receiving a sizable update “later this year,” according to Jason Ronald. “For those who have asked, this is a recap of our announcements from GDC for those who weren’t able to make it. We will have more to share about Project Helix later this year,” he wrote this week. But, there is new information that was extracted from the presentation uploaded on Microsoft Game Dev.

In the full presentation, there is a new image that does have many interested in what the next-generation Xbox Dashboard will look like. Currently, the dashboard is synonymous between Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S. But with Xbox Mode now live on PC, the plan is to offer awfully bridged experience between PC as well as Project Helix. You can view the segment in the video below:

“Another area of feedback that we’ve gotten from the community is as players are starting to play Xbox across multiple screens, they’re noticing a lot of fragmentation within the experience,” Ronald elaborated. “And so what the teams have been doing behind the scenes is they’re doing a lot of work to really deliver a consistent experience.

“So it feels very familiar, and it feels very distinctly Xbox, no matter where you actually are choosing to play. Because as a player, if I choose to move between screens, I shouldn’t have to learn new user interfaces just based on the screen that I’m on,” Ronald added on the decision for the new dashboard that was featured during the segment.
